Marketplace Selling
Choosing the right selling channels for pallet stock
Most resellers eventually run two or three channels: one for value density, one for volume clearance and one for local bulky items. The trick is knowing which is which.

A pallet almost never suits a single channel. Some items justify individual listings with good photographs; some are only worth selling in job lots; some are too bulky to post at all. Splitting a pallet across channels by item type is usually more profitable than forcing everything through one route.
| Channel | Best for | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| eBay | Branded, searchable, postable items | Fees and listing time per item |
| Facebook Marketplace | Bulky, local, low-value-density goods | Time-wasters and collection admin |
| Vinted | Clothing and accessories | Category limits and buyer expectations |
| Amazon | New, in-carton, barcoded stock | Strict condition and account requirements |
| Markets and car boots | Fast clearance of low-value volume | Pitch fees and a full day of labour |
| Job lots to other resellers | Remaining tail of a pallet | Lowest price per unit, highest speed |
Sort the pallet by channel, not by category
- 1A pile for individually listed items above roughly £20 resale
- 2A pile for local collection-only items that are heavy or awkward
- 3A pile for bundling into job lots of similar items
- 4A pile for a market stall or car boot
- 5A pile for recycling or disposal, priced in as a cost
Don't ignore the time cost
Listing an item well takes time: photographs, description, dispatch and buyer messages. Applied to a £4 item, that time is the whole margin. Track roughly how many minutes each channel costs you per item and use it to decide the minimum item value worth listing individually.
Build the second channel before you need it
Single-channel resellers are exposed to account issues, fee changes and seasonal slumps. Opening and warming a second channel while the first is healthy is much easier than doing it in a crisis.
Frequently asked questions
Which channel is best for customer returns?
Mixed returns usually split across eBay for branded items, Facebook Marketplace for bulky goods and job lots for the tail. Very few pallets suit a single channel.
Is Amazon worth it for pallet stock?
Only for new, sealed, barcoded stock in good quantities. Returns and mixed grades rarely meet Amazon's condition requirements.
